Keeping your Motability car for longer

In certain circumstances you may be able to extend the lease on your current car.

Low mileage lease extension

If you have driven fewer than 15,000 miles at the end of your agreement, you may be able to keep your car for either one or two years. We will let you know if this option is available in the renewal letter sent to you three months before the end of your lease. If eligible, you will have an allowance of 20,000 miles per year and your lease will continue as normal. You will also still be eligible for the Good Condition Bonus, which could increase depending on the length of your lease.

If you think you might be eligible for a low mileage lease extension, please make a note of your mileage and call our Customer Services team on 0300 456 4566 three months before the end of your contract to discuss your options. If you are interested in lease extending your vehicle, you will still need an MOT completed within the last two months of your original end date. Your managing dealer should contact you to book your MOT test towards the end of your lease, but if this has not happened, please contact your dealer as soon as possible.

Long term lease extension

If you have certain adaptations fitted to your vehicle, you may also be able to extend your lease for up to two years. This option is available for customers who have vehicle adaptations such as person hoists, swivel seats, rooftop hoists and electronic accelerators. If you think you might be eligible for a long-term lease extension, please call our Customer Services team on 0300 456 4566 within three months of the end of your contract. If you are interested in lease extending your vehicle, you will still need an MOT completed within the last two months of your original end date. Your managing dealer should contact you to book your MOT test towards the end of your lease, but if this has not happened, please contact your dealer as soon as possible.

Our priority is to keep you mobile and enable you to make the most of your worry-free motoring package. Therefore, there may be certain circumstances, such as where your car has had several mechanical issues, where extending your current lease will not be a suitable option.

WAV customer options

If you have driven fewer than 25,000 miles at the end of your agreement or have certain adaptations fitted to your WAV, you may be able to keep your vehicle for a further one or two years. Customers in Nearly New WAVs are also eligible, providing they meet the criteria.

If you think you might be eligible for a lease extension, please make a note of your mileage and / or your adaptations and call our Customer Services team on 0300 456 4566 at least three months before the end of your contract to discuss your options. If you are interested in lease extending your vehicle, you will still need an MOT completed within the last two months of your original end date. Your managing dealer should contact you to book your MOT test towards the end of your lease, but if this has not happened, please contact your dealer as soon as possible.
