Dealer Awards 2014

Every year, we recognise those dealers who have provided great service to customers in our annual Dealer Awards over the last year. The results for 2014 are now in!

The Dealer Awards programme is designed to reward best practice and to help ensure all Motability customers receive outstanding customer service across the network. Dealers are judged on how they deliver the Motability Scheme to customers, based on customer feedback and reviews of their performance over the last year.

Motability Specialist of the Year interview

Billy-the-Bear-with-Roy-PearmanThis year’s winner of the ‘Motability Specialist of the year’ award is Roy Pearman from Peoples Ford Bootle in Liverpool. Roy has displayed outstanding dedication and fantastic service, appreciated by many customers and colleagues. Read our interview with him below to find out more about what he does.

How long have you been a Motability specialist?

I’ve been a Motability specialist for over 23 years! I used to be the only specialist at the dealership but now we have so many more Motability customers so there are four of us.

What’s your favourite thing about the role?

For me it’s meeting different people. I really enjoy having face to face contact with customers all the time.

What happens on your typical day?

Today I have four handovers so most of my day will be spent showing customers around their new cars. I’ll probably get a chance to speak to some potential customers who are interested in the Scheme too.

Do you have any advice for someone who is choosing their next car?

My main piece of advice is to make sure customers have a test drive and ensure the car is comfortable to sit in and is easy to get in and out of. It’s important for customers to think about what sort of car should suit their needs for the next three years.

What have been the biggest changes you’ve experienced since becoming a Motability specialist?

Years ago everything was a paper exercise and you even had to send the customer’s allowance book off to the DWP in Blackpool! The whole system has been made more customer and dealer friendly.

What is a common thing that customers don’t know about the Scheme?

At first some customers think they need to give up all their benefits, but of course it’s just (all or part of) the mobility allowance.
