Tax changes for customers in Northern Ireland

From 1 October 2014, we will arrange the vehicle tax for your Motability Scheme vehicle as we currently do for our mainland customers.

We will send you a letter at least a week before the tax on your car is due to expire to let you know we’ve arranged it for another year.

Make sure you keep us informed if you move address so we have the correct details to write to you and confirm your car has been taxed. Please note that as your Motability car will be licensed in the disabled taxation class (unless otherwise requested) you cannot use your Certificate of Entitlement to claim an exemption from vehicle tax for any other vehicle.

Also from 1 October 2014, the DVLA will stop issuing vehicle tax discs and rely solely on their electronic vehicle register. More information about this nationwide change is available here .
