Tips for looking after your tyres!

To help you stay safe on the road, it is important that you look after your tyres.

Check your tyres regularly

Various factors can affect the condition of your tyres including poor road surfaces, emergency braking, incorrect tyre inflation and wheel alignment, as well as usage, age and wear and tear.

To keep maximum traction and grip, check the tread depth of your tyres regularly and replace them when they are worn. The legal limit for minimum tread depth is 1.6mm but for added safety Kwikfit will replace tyres when the tread depth reaches 2mm.

The recommended tyre pressure for your car can be found in your manufacturer’s handbook and is often printed on the sill of the driver’s door or on the inside of the fuel flap. Filling up your tyres to the correct pressure is especially important before longer journeys and could even help fuel efficiency.

Bulges and tears can easily be caused by hitting a kerb, pothole or object in the road. If in any doubt about the condition of your tyres, speak to a KwikFit specialist as soon as possible.
