How much do adaptations cost?

You can view a list of prices for adaptations purchased through the Motability Managed Scheme. Please note that the price of adaptations to be fitted during an agreement may differ (speak to a local Motability Accredited Supplier to discuss these), and authorisation must be given by Motability Operations before any adaptation is fitted.

Who pays for the adaptations to be fitted?

If the adaptations are arranged at the start of a new agreement through the Motability Managed Adaptations Programme, the cost of fitting is included in the price quoted by the dealer. Many of our most popular adaptations are supplied and fitted at no extra cost when arranged at the same time as ordering your car.

If you need to fit adaptations to your car during your lease, or you want to arrange the the adaptations yourself, you must use a Motability Adaptations Partner and pay the cost of the adaptations directly to them. What adaptations are available?

If you require adaptations to help make driving, or travelling, easier or more comfortable, you’ll be pleased to know that many of the most popular ones are available at no additional cost when fitted at the start of your lease. There’s lots of useful information about adaptations . The Adaptations in action videos show how adaptations can make a difference to your motoring experience and are divided into three categories – accessing the car, storing wheelchairs or scooters and driving controls. Your local Motability adaptation installer or the Forum of Mobility Centres are the best places to start your search for an adaptation to meet your needs.

Where can I find the dimensions of cars?

Within our Car Search , you can search by a range of vehicle dimensions. Try narrowing down your search by; seat height, door width, head room, boot length and door opening angle. Once you have narrowed down the search, you can also view more specific details about individual cars by selecting the model name.

Are there any 'green' cars available?

We are very conscious about the environment and are always looking to make the Scheme 'greener'. This includes highlighting 'greener cars' to help make your choice easier. Remember, greener cars are also more fuel efficient, so this means they cost less to run too!

What colours can I order a car in?

Your supplying Motability dealer will be able to advise you of the colours available for particular models on the Motability Scheme. Many dealers now offer solid paint ranges, in addition to standard metallic paints, at no additional cost. Special edition or premium paint options may have an additional cost, your supplying Motability dealer will let you know if this is the case.

Why do some cars have an Advance Payment?

Some larger or high specification cars require an additional upfront payment or ' Advance Payment ' as we call it. The Advance Payment is not a refundable deposit, it covers the difference between the cost of your car and your allowance paid over the length of the agreement. However there is a range of around 300 cars available with no Advance Payment.

There are even some cars available that cost less than your weekly allowance, meaning you will still receive the remainder of your allowance to spend however you choose.

Where is my local Car and WAVs Dealer?

Search your nearest Motability car dealer by town or postcode (when you click on the link, the page will be opened in the browser window or tab that you launched Mo from). You can search for all dealers in your area, or specify a particular manufacturer.
