If you choose a car, all this is included:

A new car of your choice every three years

You get a brand new car every three years. We will contact you a few months before your lease expires, and if you decide to continue with Motability, you can choose a car for your next three year contract (provided you are still eligible).

How to get another car with the Motability scheme

Insurance

The worry-free package provides similar cover to what you would expect under a fully comprehensive insurance policy. You can still lease a car even if you don’t drive, you simply nominate two drivers who can drive on your behalf. And if you decide to leave Motability at a later stage, you can request a letter confirming your claims history to take to your new insurer.

Servicing and maintenance
All of your regular service and maintenance is included and taken care of by your dealer. So you’ll have no unexpected repair bills with your Motability car.

Full breakdown assistance from RAC
The RAC Motability Assist helpline and roadside staff are specially trained to handle your calls and are available on 0800 73 111 73, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Assistance is provided for recovery, either at the roadside or at home.

Annual car tax
We organise the tax disc and have it sent directly to your home (except in Northern Ireland and Isle of Man).
 
Replacement tyres fitted by Kwik Fit
For no extra cost Kwik Fit will replace tyres worn or damaged by normal use. They also provide a mobile service so your tyres can be replaced for no extra cost at your home or work.

Window and windscreen repair or replacement
Should anything happen to your windows or windscreen you can get them repaired or replaced at no extra cost.

60,000 mileage allowance over three years
You get 60,000 mileage allowance over three years with cars. However, if the total mileage is higher than the allowance when you return the car, there is a charge of 5p for every additional mile.

Many adaptations at no extra cost
If you need adaptations to make your car easier, safer or simply more comfortable to use, you’ll be pleased to know that many of the most popular ones are now available at no additional cost.

A wide range of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs)
A WAV enables you to travel whilst seated in your wheelchair, as either a passenger or driver. There are around 500 WAVs available with Motability. WAVs come with a 100,000 mileage allowance on a five year lease. If you’re looking for an even more affordable or quicker way to lease a WAV, we also offer a Nearly New WAV option which can be leased for three years.

Around 450 cars at no Advance Payment
Motability offers a huge range of cars to choose from, suiting all needs and budgets. There are currently around 450 cars that cost no more than your weekly allowance – over 150 of these cost less than your allowance, giving you money back to spend as you wish. You can increase your choice of cars even further by topping up your allowance with an upfront payment, or what we call an ‘Advance Payment.’

What’s not included?

Although almost everything is included, please note you will be responsible for paying the following:

  • Fuel and consumables; such as screen wash
  • Optional extras not fitted as standard; such as leather seats
  • Adaptations; some need an additional payment
  • Insurance claims; there is a £75 minimum excess on any claim for loss or damage. This excess varies depending on the age and experience of the driver (full details can be obtained on application).
  • Fines; any parking or speeding fines are your responsibility
  • Theft of, or damage to, personal belongings; these include wheelchairs, coats or mobile phones (full details can be obtained on application).

As well as all the benefits on offer as part of our worry-free package, you’ll need to make sure you’re happy to lease a car within the Scheme’s terms and conditions.

Benefits of joining the Powered Wheelchair and Scooter Scheme

If you are interested in a scooter or powered wheelchair, all this is included in your lease:

A new scooter or powered wheelchair of your choice every three years
With Motability you get a brand new scooter or powered wheelchair every three years. There are over 300 products to choose from, most of which cost less than your allowance, so there is bound to be one to suit your needs and budget.

Help from specialist dealers
We work with a nationwide network of dealers to ensure that no matter where you live in the UK, there are people who can visit you to discuss the products available, as well as provide servicing, maintenance and repairs throughout your lease. All our dealers have attended specialist training and are continually updated to ensure they know about all aspects of Motability.

Insurance from RSA Motability (RSAM)
You are covered in case of an accident, damage or theft of the product, with no excess to pay. The insurance also covers you against any damage caused by your scooter or powered wheelchair to other products, property or people.

Breakdown assistance from Motability Assist
Motability Assist will take you and your product back to your home address if you have an accident or breakdown during your day-to-day activities. If you are on holiday or away from home with your product and need assistance, Motability Assist will take you and your product back to your local accommodation.

Servicing, maintenance and repairs
Call-outs and home collections can be arranged with your dealer.

Replacement tyres
There is no need to worry about punctures or damage to your tyres as they are repaired or replaced whenever there is a problem. If you are out and about when you get a puncture preventing you from being able to get home safely, our partners at Motability Assist will help get you, and your scooter or powered wheelchair home where you can arrange for your dealer to repair or mend the tyre for you.

Batteries
Your scooter will come with a battery as standard so all you have to do is remember to keep it charged. You dealer will be able to show you how to do this properly ensuring your battery lasts as long as possible and, if anything goes wrong with the battery through normal every day use, it will be replaced, free of charge.

Modifications
The majority of scooters and many powered wheelchairs come as standard from the manufacturer (except in cases of custom-built powered wheelchairs). If you need additional adaptations, speak to your dealer to discuss prices and details. All our scooters come with a weatherproof cover as standard, so your scooter stays dry – whatever the weather.

What’s not included?

There are some things that are not included:

  • Optional extras on the product that are not fitted as standard
  • More than three claims for lost or stolen keys
  • Any fines you may incur
  • Insurance cover for theft or damage to personal belongings such as coats, bags, mobile phones and money.
