Tyres

We include tyre repairs from Kwik Fit as part of your lease package, to get you back on the road as quickly and safely as possible.

Tyres worn or damaged through normal use will be replaced at no extra cost as part of your lease. Tyre repair and replacement is subject to a 'fair usage' policy.

These are also covered at no extra cost:

  • Puncture repairs
  • Wheel balancing
  • Replacing stolen or vandalised tyres

Visiting a Kwik Fit centre

Find your nearest Kwik Fit and book an appointment

There are many Kwik Fit centres across the UK and Northern Ireland and they're all open seven days a week. Most Kwik Fit branches work on a first-come, first-serve basis, which can mean long waits. We recommend you book an appointment in advance.

If your vehicle is not driveable, please call the RAC Motability Assist on 0800 73 111 73.

If you live on an island in the UK or Northern Ireland, you will not find a Kwik Fit centre and they cannot come to you. Please call the Kwik Fit Tyreline on 0330 123 1531 and they’ll give you advice on how to get your tyres changed.

If you're on the Scheme, you can book an appointment online using your vehicle registration number and tyre size (you can find this on the side of your tyre – it has both numbers and letters).

When you book online, you can:

  • Pre-book an appointment to cut down on waiting times
  • See all of the centres near you and choose one that suits you
  • Know replacement tyres will be in stock, so your trip is not wasted

The quickest way to book is in 'Tyres' in your Motability Scheme online account. This will pre-fill your personal details on Kwik Fit's booking system, saving you time.

Find your nearest centre

Before you visit

  • If your car has locking wheel nuts, you'll need to bring the locking wheel nut key you got with your car – this is usually in the boot
  • If you have accessibility needs, phone ahead to check which of your local centres might be the most accessible. Most are step-free, but a few are in older buildings and might not be as accessible

When you arrive

As soon as you arrive, tell the person you speak to that you're on the Scheme. They'll check your car's registration number.

You'll also need to tell them if you have any adaptations fitted to your car, in case they need to drive it.

Kwik Fit repairs are usually done while you wait.

Using the mobile service

If you cannot get to a centre, or accessibility at your nearest centre is difficult, Kwik Fit offer a mobile service at no extra cost. It's by appointment and in advance only.

To get them to replace tyres at your home, call 0330 123 1533. Have your car registration and tyre size to hand when you call, to make sure they bring the right tyres.

You can book an appointment between 8.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, and 8.30am and 12.30pm on Saturdays. They'll try to visit you within three working days.

So you know – the mobile service can take longer than having the tyre changed at a centre.

Kwik Fit Mobile is not an emergency service, so if you're out and you cannot continue because of a tyre problem, you should contact RAC Motability Assist on 0800 73 111 73.

Your tyres

Tread depth

Legally, tyres need to be replaced when the tread depth falls to 1.6mm on 75% of the contact surface. Kwik Fit will replace tyres on Scheme vehicles when the depth falls to 2.0mm.

They'll always fit an appropriate tyre, but it might not be the same brand you had. This will not affect the safety or performance of your vehicle.

Spare wheel

Some new cars do not come with a spare wheel. If yours does not, make sure you ask your dealer what the alternative is.

If you're not sure what to do, remember your worry-free package comes with full breakdown cover from the RAC and free tyre replacement from Kwik Fit. There will always be someone to help if your tyre needs replacing.

Inflation kits

In some vehicles, an emergency inflation kit is included for punctures. Once you've used the canister, contact your dealer to get a replacement.

If you're not comfortable using the kit, you can contact the RAC or Kwik Fit and they'll do this for you.

Snow tyres

If you live in a remote area or somewhere that regularly has extreme weather you could have snow tyres, chains or socks fitted to your Scheme car. You'll need to pay for this and talk to us before you arrange a fitting.

Take care when you're driving and make sure you think about whether your return journey will be safe too.

Outside of the UK

If you need to replace your tyres while you’re abroad:

  • Call the Kwik Fit Tyreline on 0330 123 1531 for advice
  • Keep the receipt if you have to repair or replace tyres and contact Kwik Fit when you come back – they'll reimburse you the amount, but they will not cover callout charges

Using other companies

You can also use STS Tyre Pros if it's more convenient. You book these appointments the same way – just call Kwik Fit on 0330 123 1531.
