If things change with your allowance

Whether your allowance is being reassessed, changes or ends, we’ll support you.

If your allowance is being reassessed

If your DLA is reassessed and you’re awarded the higher rate mobility part of PIP, you’ll continue to be eligible for the Scheme.

If your reassessment from DLA to PIP is not successful, you will not be able to lease a vehicle on the Scheme anymore but we’ll support you through this change.

If your allowance changes

If your allowance changes to a different component, part or other allowance, whether you can stay on the Scheme depends what it changes to. Most higher mobility components or parts are eligible for the Scheme.

If your allowance ends during your lease

You will not be able to lease a vehicle on the Scheme anymore. We’ll help you return your vehicle and we’ll support you through this change.

You might be eligible for a £1000 stopped allowance support payment if your return the vehicle in a good condition to your dealer, within the timescale we give you.

What happens if my mobility allowance has been stopped?

If the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or Veterans UK decide you are no longer eligible for the mobility allowance, you are responsible for keeping us informed and we will need to make arrangements for the return of the car.

What happens if I am not awarded the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component (ERMC) of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)?

If the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) decides you are not eligible for ERMC PIP, you will no longer be eligible to use the Motability Scheme. Unfortunately we can only supply cars to people who receive one of the relevant mobility allowances and cannot take payments directly from you.
