A ‘ Safe Date ’  is given to Motability Operations by the Department for Work and Pensions, to advise when they will start to hold your allowance. The safe date is used to establish the Earliest Handover Date. Your lease agreement should not start before this date. If there is a gap between the 'Safe Date' and the lease agreement start date, any monies owed will be reimbursed after collection. For new customers from the Isle of Man only, your dealer will give you a CP50 form which will need to get stamped by the Department of Social Security, and they will return it to you with the safe date. You then need to take your stamped CP50 to your dealer from your application to be processed.
