More support to help keep you moving
We know how important your car can be to everyday life. That’s why we’re using this new technology to give you useful information about your car when you might need it. This can help reduce the risk of an unexpected breakdown or time off the road.
We’ve already seen this support make a difference. Customers who received it spent less time without their cars, helping to avoid more than 3,000 days off the road.
Depending on your car, the information it shares can help us identify things like:
- Warning lights and alerts
- Whether an oil change is needed
- When your car may need a service
If something might need attention, we’ll email you. We’ll let you know what we’ve found and what to do next.
If your car needs checking, we’ll also explain how to book an appointment with your dealer. Your dealer will check your car and let you know if any work is needed.
Knowing about some issues sooner could help you plan ahead. It could give you more time to arrange a dealer appointment and reduce the chance of a small issue becoming more serious.
It’s another way we can support you to look after your car, with fewer surprises along the way.
Which cars can provide this support?
Not every car can currently share the information we need. The information available also depends on the make and model of your car.
We can currently use information from selected Ford and Stellantis vehicles, including Citroën, Peugeot and Vauxhall, to provide this maintenance support.
We hope to offer this support to more customers as the relevant information becomes available from more manufacturers.
How does your car share information?
Connected vehicle technology is already built into many newer cars by the manufacturer. You do not need to install anything in your car.
It can securely share selected information about how your car is working. We can use this information to let you know when something might need attention.
We do not use information from your car to monitor your journeys as part of this maintenance support. You can find out more about how we use vehicle information in our Privacy Notice.
You still know your car best
Connected vehicle technology gives extra support. It cannot identify every problem and does not replace routine servicing or maintenance.
Keep using and looking after your car as normal.
If you see a warning light, notice something unusual or think something is wrong, check your vehicle handbook and contact your dealer.
If you ignore a warning light and this causes damage to your car, you’ll be responsible for the cost of the repair. This applies to all Scheme vehicles.
It’s your responsibility to get any issues checked. This can help keep your car running smoothly and avoid extra costs.
We’re already supporting customers
We started using connected vehicle technology with around 8,000 Ford customers in March 2026.
When information from their cars suggested something might need attention, we contacted them and explained what to do next. We sent more than 2,000 emails during this trial.
This helped customers take action sooner. Customers who received this support got critical oil issues sorted 12 days sooner on average. They also booked and attended dealer appointments earlier.
It also helped keep cars on the road. Customers who received this support spent less time without their vehicles, helping to avoid more than 3,000 days off the road.
We’ve used what we learned to improve the experience. We’re now bringing this extra support to more customers.
You can find out more about connected vehicles on our website. This includes which cars can benefit, what happens if we contact you and answers to common questions.
