How do I get adaptations?
Adaptations are not suitable for every type of car so it’s important to consider the adaptations you need before you choose your car. The best source of information for anything to do with adaptations will be one of our adaptations installers. They will be able to advise on different types of adaptations available and will also be able to recommend which car models may be suitable for installing your chosen adaptation. Remember, it’s best to find out if you need an adaptation before you make a final decision on which car to choose.
The easiest and most cost effective way to arrange for adaptations on your Scheme car is when you are ordering it. This way your adaptation installer can ensure that the combination of the car and adaptations, along with your wheelchair if you use one, all work together. It also means that your brand-new car is delivered with the adaptations you need fitted so that you can drive away and start enjoying it.
The best bit is that when arranged at the start of your lease, some of our most popular adaptations come at no extra cost!
How do I get adaptations on the Motability Scheme?
- Adaptation installers are the best people to give advice on which adaptations might best suit your needs, especially if you are considering stowage or access adaptations.
- Not all adaptations on the Scheme are available from every installer. Once you know what you need, if the supplier you have been considering cannot supply it then another of our Scheme installers will be able to assist you.
- If you can’t see what you need on our full price list , please speak to our Customer Services team on 0300 456 4566 and we’ll work with you to find a solution.
If you need to add adaptations mid-lease
If you need to add any extra adaptations during your lease, you will need to inform RSAM and our Customer Services team first to ensure you are covered. You can then contact any Motability Scheme adaptations installer to discuss your needs. You will need to pay the cost of any such adaptations direct to the adaptation installer.
To help make adaptations even more affordable, the majority of our stowage and access adaptations can now be transferred onto a second Scheme car.
