Are there any limits to the Insurance Groups of a car I can apply for?

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) grade vehicles on a scale of 1 to 50. To ensure the Motability Scheme is affordable for all, drivers under the age of 25 can only drive petrol, diesel or hybrid cars with an ABI Insurance Group of 16 or lower and with a power output of 120 brake horsepower (BHP) or less. For electric cars, drivers under 25 can only drive cars with an ABI Insurance Group of 21 or lower and with a power output of 140 brake horsepower (BHP) or less. This does not apply to Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles.

In addition, only one named driver under 21 is permitted – this could be the disabled customer, or another driver living at the same address.
