What happens if I am finding it too expensive to run a car?

If you are finding your vehicle too expensive to run, we would advise you take time to estimate all the likely costs of alternative transport, e.g. taxis, before you consider ending your lease agreement with Motability Operations Ltd. Unless you frequently use your car to travel long distances, changing cars is unlikely to significantly impact your running costs.

You can only cancel your lease agreement if there is a valid reason, for example, if your mobility needs have changed and the car is no longer suitable, and you may be asked to pay an administration fee of up to £250. Once you have returned the vehicle any Advance Payment you have paid will be refunded on a pro-rata basis and you may be eligible for a pro-rata Good Condition Bonus. Please be aware that repeated cancellations can affect your eligibility for the Motability Scheme.

If you would like to discuss ending your agreement early, please call our Customers Services team on 0300 456 4566
