What is a Diesel Particulate Filter?

If you have a diesel car, then you may also have a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). These are designed to catch bits of soot that come from the exhaust and reduce air pollution from vehicle emissions.

As with any filter, regular cleaning is important to maintain its effectiveness. DPFs have an automated 'self cleaning' process which is activated when you drive for around 10-15 minutes at over 40mph. Please speak to your dealer if you need any more information about how your DPF works or how to maintain it.
