Getting support for higher mileage
We know that every customer's circumstances are different.
The standard mileage allowance gives most customers enough miles for everyday journeys. But some people need to travel much further for healthcare, education or employment.
For orders placed after 1 July 2026, we’ve introduced additional support to help customers with the highest travel needs. It helps make sure they get the support they need, while helping keep the Scheme sustainable for everyone.
If you need to travel much more than your standard mileage allowance because of these journeys, you may be able to get help with the cost of your extra miles.
If you receive your allowance from Social Security Scotland
Changes to the Scheme will apply to customers who receive their allowance from Social Security Scotland from 1 September 2026.
If you placed an order before 1 September 2026:
- 60,000 miles over a three-year lease
- 100,000 miles over a five-year lease
If you drive more than that, we’ll charge you 5p per mile.
If you placed an order on or after 1 September 2026:
- 30,000 miles over a three-year lease
- 50,000 miles over a WAVWheelchair Accessible Vehicle five-year lease
If you drive more than that, we'll charge you 25p per mile. If you benefit from VAT relief, we'll charge you 21p per mile.
