WAV stands for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. This means you can travel in the vehicle while seat in your wheelchair

Can I take my vehicle abroad and how does this work?

You can take your vehicle aboard within the European Union and to Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein at no extra cost for up to 90 days in total within a 12-month period.

You’re not allowed to take your vehicle abroad for longer than 12 months.

You need to get a VE103 form and take it with you

You can fill in our form or call the RAC on 0800 731 3310. When you ask for your VE103, you’ll be offered RAC European breakdown cover.

You’ll also need a VE103 to travel abroad for any length of time if you live in Northern Ireland or you’re travelling to the Republic of Ireland.

If you want to travel for longer than 90 days

Call our customer services team on 0300 456 4566 at least three weeks before you plan to leave.

Our insurance provider will let you know if you can extend your insurance cover, but you might need to pay a charge.

You cannot get cover for legal expenses while you're abroad.

If you have a scooter or powered wheelchair

You can take your product abroad for up to 30 days in total within a 12-month period.

You will not be covered for legal expenses and breakdowns while you're abroad.
